Edgify is an AI edge-computing company transforming in-store retail intelligence. Edgify helps global retailers improve loss prevention, operational efficiency, and customer experience- without relying on cloud latency.
Following their seed round, Edgify entered a critical growth phase, focused on strengthening commercial leadership, advancing their product offering, and building operational foundations to support scale. With a big focus on D&I, they began working with Urban Digital Recruitment.
The Challenge:
As a lean, fast-moving startup, Edgify faced several hiring challenges:
Limited internal hiring bandwidth during a period of rapid growth
Balancing gender equality/D&I across the team in a very male dominated industry
Highly niche role requirements, spanning commercial, product, technical, and finance functions
The need to attract talent with deep domain expertise in AI, retail technology, and B2B SaaS
Ensuring hires could operate effectively in a high-ambiguity, early-stage environment
Edgify required a recruitment partner who could operate as an extension of the leadership team, prioritising roles, advising on structure, and delivering high-quality candidates efficiently.
Our Approach:
We partnered closely with Edgify’s founders and leadership team to provide end-to-end hiring support across multiple functions.
Our approach included:
Role scoping & prioritisation: Working with leadership to define success profiles, reporting lines, and sequencing of hires
Market benchmarking: Advising on salary bands, candidate availability, and competitive positioning
Targeted search: Proactively mapping and engaging candidates with relevant AI, retail, and SaaS experience
Flexible hiring strategy: Supporting both remote and office-based hires (approx. 50/50 split)
Hands-on process management: Managing candidate pipelines, interview processes, and offer stages to minimise leadership time investment
Key Hires Delivered:
Over the course of the initial engagement, we successfully delivered 5 strategic hires, including:
VP of Sales – Senior commercial leader to drive revenue growth and enterprise retail partnerships
Senior Loss Prevention Product Manager – Domain expert bridging AI capabilities with retail use cases
Technical Support Engineer – Supporting enterprise customers and ensuring platform reliability
Business Development Representative (BDR) – Building early-stage pipeline and outbound capability
Head of Finance – Establishing financial controls, reporting, and investor readiness
Each hire was selected not only for technical capability, but for their ability to thrive in a scaling startup environment.
